Ok most my birds are in mixed cages, some with the bossy type which have no nests, and one of the cages have some silverbills and a owl in,which has a couple of nests for them to sleep in,was just wondering what other type of small finch that are social animals and do well with silverbills/owl,dont want anything that gets bossy as there are nests in that cage

My Silverbills tend to get along with most anything, but they seem especially attached to my Shaft-tail Finch and, somewhat to a lesser extent, my Society Finch. I can't say about Owls, as I've never had them.
Societies, of course, like everybody. I've read of Shaft-tails being pushy, but the single bird that I have doesn't seem to be pushy at all. I'm not sure if this is due to her being a lone Shafttail, or if she's just unusually easygoing. The closest she's gotten to being "pushy" is that she gets somewhat territorial of her nest. If someone (another bird) goes in her nest, she'll go over there and start chewing them out with this noise that I can best describe as a chicken clucking. She doesn't chase or try to pluck or do anything to them other than chew them out. Interestingly with this, she'll allow the Silverbill pair in and out of her nest when she's there and when she isn't without a problem. Its only the other birds (non-Silverbills) that she'll have a fit with another bird in/near her nest.

My Owls get along well with RH Parrots....when they roost it sometimes looks like an Owl sandwich!
