Here are my new Gouldian finches I just got from my breeder. I exchanged my Weavers for them. (check out my Orange Weaver post to know the whole story if you like)
Anyways she let me choose any pair I wanted except the blues. So I chose these two.
The female I chose is a RH VB GB. Im not to sure what strains are in her background because I forgot to ask!
The male I chose is a RH WB YB she told me that he is split to blue will most likely produce some blues.
Please take a look at the pictures and tell me if I got this correct. Im still learning about them.
Im trying to figure out what to name them.
My kids want them to be called Pirate (male) and Rainbow (female) lol we will see

Nice looking gouldians
The hen is RH PB GB PB means purple breast, and of course you know the WB=white breast and then there is a lilac breast LB. In hens the LB will look very light , almost pink beige.
These 2 should make some beautiful babies
Here is a link to a gouldian genetic forcastor so you can see what they may produce

thank you for the link. Can you explain what all that means like the genetics? its so confusing to me. I typed in the male and female then a list came below all of it was 6.3% im not sure what the rest is about.

The list is what you could get in the offspring from this pair. The 6.3 is the percentage... or chance out of 100 that you would get that particular color mutation. It should of given you a list of the males and females. If you put your mouse on each RH PB GB it will show you a picture.
What did you put in for the male and the female...I will try it and see what comes up... that way it would be easier to explain

Okay I put for the male RH WB YB/BB sf and for the hen RH PB GB/BB
Below is the percentage or odds of getting that particular colo. Then it tells you the head color, the breast color and back color
If there are any splits it will be written with a / like GB/BB green back split for BB
If you go to the forcastor and move your mouse over the color listed unde BODY on the graph a picture will pop up showing you what that chick would look like. Have fun, playing with the forcastor will help you learjn the abbreviation

The male has been singing up a storm today! female is making little peep peep sounds. Hes flying from perch to perch and sitting beside her, and inspecting the nest.
Im still in awe at how pretty they are.

You're going to love the Gouldians! My goulds are probably my most favorite finch I own. They have such a pleasant song, they're never loud or boisterous, have beautiful colours, have such personality, and are 100 times less flighty than the other finches I own. My pair are on 5 eggs right now, 2nd time round, so we'll see if any babies result!
