I currently have 12 finches, some in different cages, but most of them in my mixed flight.
I really like my Javas and I think I'd like to continue with them, and possibly breed them since I already have a pair and since they're threatened in the wild. I know they're listed as passive but are recommended for housing with the more aggressive species due to their size. The Javas seem to do pretty well with my other birds currently (which are mostly the hardier passive species and a few pushy spices, as well as a female Whydah). With the exception of my Java pair, the only other pair of birds I have are Indian Silverbills.... everyone else is a single bird of varying species in the flight.
I'd be interested in trying my hand at breeding finches, particularly those that are threatened/endangered in the wild (like Javas and Gouldains) or those species that may need more breeders out there due to either lack of interest in breeding them in general, or those that can't be imported any longer.
I'm pretty set in wanting to continue with the Javas, but what other species could I keep with them in a mixed flight breeding environment, if any?

Re: Java Mixed Flight?
A huge flight with just javas would be my pick. They enjoy each others company even though they squabble.
