I have 4 of these I just noticed on the floor of my aviary. Are they Senegals? Or are they GB? It's been so long since I had my GB breed I forgot what they look like.
I also have Black Breast Fires and Blue Beak fires in the aviary.

John, I remember GB being a little darker

Cindy, and notice the red on the tail. I hope I have fires. If so, it's my first clutch ever. And their crops are all full.
I wonder if feeding the fruit flies has made a difference?

Jan I got the female from you at the Ponchatoula show.
How was Jackson? Too far for me to do by myself.
Just wondering if it would have been worth it for me.

was a fun show & I think it will grow into a really good show.. We did well, the bad part was there was really no one else with finches so I didn't come home with any new birds

I agree the pic looks like a fire. Congratulations! I would love my fires to have a clutch, but so far they will not incubate consistently. Oh well. More pics as they color up please.

. I also have a nest with an unknown number of fire finches ready to fledge any day now ive seen 2 of the peek out of the nest so far

cant wait till they fledge

... have you been feeding yours any other insects besides fruit flies???? By the way how did u get the fruit flies ??? Ive been feeding mines freezedried mealworms n bloodworms mixed with the egg food and they love it.
I have dartfrogs and they require live food. So I culture live wingless fruitflies. I culture more than the frogs can eat so I give the excess to the finches. They relish them.
I do not give any other insects. However I am sure they probably catch wild insects that get into the aviary.
Fruitfly cultures can be purchased at the Fly Cafe.

Definitely Fire finch babies! Whether they are Senegal or another species of Fires, I cannot say, as I have only seen Senegal Fire babies, but yours looks exactly like mine. Congrats!
