At what age do Cordon Bleu finches usually start singing? Do the males or females start singing at an earlier age, or does that make any difference?

I have rccb's and both the hen and cock sing, but the hen makes a softer song that has less of the variations in tone. My last rccb juvenile started singing at about age six weeks of age. The singing stopped after the first molt and now she, it's a hen, only chirps and makes the soft songs like her mother. My other species of male finches began singing around 45-50 days from hatching. Hope that is helpful.

Thank you for your reply. I have a new young pair - estimated 6-8 month age. I have not heard any definite singing yet though. I am looking forward to hearing them though!

My female BCCB was sofly singing within 3 weeks of getting her (at about 2-3 months of age). My male BCCB started singing the moment he arrived (at about 2.5 months of age). He was singing so much that I named him Caruso! He was in a different room from the female at first...maybe seperation would get them calling to each other?
