This my new male canary, his name is Mango!
He is 8 months old and just starting to sing!
He literally cost me just a song!

Is all in the color feeding.
I will have to keep it up especially during his next molt.
It's a powder that is made from an algae and shrimp and its
mixed into his soft food or egg food.
If I don't he will be very light in color.

I read somewhere that they have to feed it to flamingoes that are in zoos because if they don't fiend that shrimp they turn white.

Wow!! Great color!! I wonder if you will have to color-feed him to keep him so bright? He will really attract the lady canaries... you may have a flock outside your window soon! He may get those Button Quail laying!

Be careful, not too much color supplement, as it can be bad for their liver.
The breeder that I got my wife's red factor from said to feed him red and orange veggies (red bell pepper, carrots, yams, chilli, etc) for natural color supplement.

You have to catch the molt just right.
We have been missing the start of the molt and as a result have not started color feeding my wife's red factor early enough. So...the leading edge of the wing, which seem to molt in first, is white/light orange. Next year we plan to start color feeding in March, so when he molts in May we hope his wings will be ALL orange.

I feed my Red Factor Quicko Red Egg Food for Red Factors and its in a feeder in his cage all the time I don't use the powder or anything else that mixes with water. I fed it to him all thru his last molt and he maintained his color.

Quicko adds the powder to their mix.
The shop was out of Quicko red, so I will have to get more powder.
The powder is around $20 per little jar but lasts a good long time
Also it can be mixed with water or egg food.
