Why do you have the wire grate on the bottom of the cage?
Every cage I buy, I take it out, I found they could get their legs cought.
Just a suggestion.

Congratulations! Your birds are beautiful. I bred this species five years ago. They are a somewhat difficult species to get established because most specimens outside of Europe are usually wild caught and it takes a while for the wild caught hen to get into breeding condition in captivity. I love the little greypates!

Two days later and they are all out and about doing well!

If you can remove that wire floor in that cage, do so. Someone else suggested covering it. I had a fledgling get their feet between the wires last week, and by the time I found him (maybe a couple hours), the bird was dead. I was quite excited about this fledgling, of course.

That is bad luck and I appreciate your word of advice.My fledglings are more advanced now and not on the cage floor as much.I never noticed any hook up places in my cage in three years and hoping this record continues.I believe the grill does a great job in keeping things cleaner on the bottom and less chance of birds getting sick from leftover egg food,faeces or other which can be devastating to the flock as well.One of those darned if you do darned if you don't.

I love my European Goldfinch! One of my favorite birds, and he definitely has the best song of all my birds.

I love Euro Goldies! I've never seen babies before what little babes they are ! Congrats on this clutch! So happy for you that they all fledged and (knock on wood of course)are healthy and doing well! Seems Dad is a REALLY good and um... protective ! Would lovedB more photos!
