What are your thoughts about putting together an "aggressive" flight? I tend to stay away from more agressive species, because I cannot mix them in with other more gentle birds.

What about putting together a large flight with 2 to 4 pairs of more aggressive species? Is this a bad idea? If you did this, which ones would you pick? I also know that every bird is different so you would have to watch them closely no matter what birds you are joining together.

well, they're considered aggressive for a reason. and chances are, even amongst aggressive birds, somebody will be the weakest and may get beaten up pretty badly.

I don't know enough about the aggressives to say for sure, but I know just pushy zebras can be pretty brutal to each other.

part of it would depend on whether you want to breed them. same sex pairs might not be so bad, but a lot of the aggressive birds are at their worst when breeding, being territorial.

I think purposely setting up an aggressive flight would be asking for trouble. Even if the birds didn't attack and kill one another the stress level would be very high. Stress would lead to many unwanted health issues, not to mention the troubles you would have if any tried to breed.

Most finches listed as aggressive sould be housed with care. In the wild these birds usually have vast spaces to work out their territorial differences but in a flight... well it would not be the happiest living arrangements for them.

Gotcha. It made more sence in my head for some reason. i was thinking like Shaftails, Green Singers, Diamond Firetails, etc.

But I agree now...why ask for trouble. I just love big mixed flights.
