Punk rocker for sure...but you should see the other siblings...they have some funky do's to. I'll try to get a few good shots of them.

In the Spring that will be some big shipment of eggs you will be getting!!!!! You would almost have to get the whole nest full to guarantee crested.

We could swap bloodlines...I have FF, FS, OB (hooray!!) and hopefully Phaeo soon!

Wonder if the Eumo are difficult to breed as penguins are?

I have 4 pairs of FF and FS....new blood is always welcome.

The penguins hatch maybe 4 but not all make it to the end, the parents either stop feeding or they push the young to fledge early. I think when I go to set them up again I will set up the older BC pair, they are great fosters.

Why do they parent so badly?? Something with the mutation?

Not sure Gary has had issues with penguins. They lay, sit, feed and only raise few of the hatchlings. I had lovebirds like that, could only let them feed the last two hatchlings. I had to the older ones as they hatched and feed them out, pulling the last two from the parents right before their eyes opened. As they matured it got better, but I still had to pull and handfeed.

The penguin adults are about a yr and a half now.

Penguin is recessive...so if you pair a penguin with a normal...no pied (my motto!!) you will get splits and full penguins...just be warned you may not get full penguins in every clutch or you cn get all splits or a mix of somesplits and some full.

If your penguin is a female you can even pair it with fawn male, you will get fawn penguin females.....tke the fawn penguin females and pair it with a fawn male and you will get fawn penguins....my next dventure in finching! That and fawn BC.
