Re: Zebra Genetics some interesting facts
I do not know if it is from a book or not (since I do not own the book). I reworded it as I understood it from the site I referrenced. I made the list of mutations.
Your point Candace???? I simply put it as an interesting fact post for those working with or interested in zebra mutations.

Anyway...some of the mutations I am currently working with as are others, it is good to have this info handy especially when pairing parents up!
The list I made up is now inside my pair journal/records also.

Re: Zebra Genetics some interesting facts
I started with a chart on the computer in Excel...I am reworking it since I have moved pairs around, added stock. I am also going to add a clear pouch with a card that has information and genetics of the parents, the band color of each and the band color of the young.
My husband got me little capsules that can fit a series of bands in them. Within each clear pouch with be an information card that has parent genetic info on it, hatch dates/fledge dates, young and their mutation/sex along with a long capsule of bands for the young.
This will all be backed up on Excel on a spread sheet.

Candace, I think you are right - the zebra finch drawing on the zebracrazy site is one of Gerry Landry's or a slightly modified one. I just got my copy of Landry's book a couple weeks ago and his drawings are quite distinctive.

Dominic...take look at the records on this site
http://www.zebrafinchsociety.co.uk/imag ... rds_bw.pdf
......................................................................................
Garrie Landry's charts are more detailed in the drawings and with arrows, details
http://www.zebrafinch.com/other/Book.html
the ones of the site I referenced are much more simplistic
http://zebracrazy.byethost13.com/Gen3.htm
they are alike but not exact. Look and compare...but do it elsewhere.

Re: Zebra Genetics some interesting facts
Point? Just furnishing people interested in Zebra mutations a source for this information and more. I do have the book and highly recommend it for anyone wanting to breed zebra mutations
Where to buy:
http://www.zebrafinch.com/other/Book.html
But I see the info you listed was actually taken from Carlos Matos and his zebra genetics site. On the web page you listed his site is the background source. Just trying to give credit where credit is due.
Both Landry and Matos have copyright statements. They both share the information for those that want it
Carlos Matos has free downloading of all the zebra genetics here in his forcastor:
http://clientes.netvisao.pt/carlmato/
I think that it's great to share information... you go girl
I'm just sharing where anyone can learn the complete genetics of zebra mutations. Both of these sources are truly worth looking into.
You can save yourself a lot of time from the experts that already have figured all these mutations out

Re: Zebra Genetics some interesting facts
I Did reference Carlos @ http://zebracrazy.byethost13.com/GenNotes.htm so how could it be taken from Landry's book? I do believe I did give credit due where credit is due to begin with. I often referrence Landy and efinch on the forum often...CandoAviary wrote:I believe that's taken from Landry's book?
