gouldian finch male? female?
Hello all! I have a question. My little gouldian baby has just about finished molting into her big girl feathers and now I am questioning... Is she a she or a he??? I think she is a girl, but I have never had a female with tail points like this...

It does have rather long points, but hens do get points in varying lengths... no singing yet? How old? What are the parents...if single factor then it's a hen.

Her parents are
Mother: Millie
Black head (genetically orange head), White breast, Greenback (split to blue)
Father: Razzle Dazzle
Orange head, Purple breast, Dilute (split to blue)
Considering how most of their babies are white breasted, I guess the daddy must also be split for white breast.
This "juvie" is about 6 months old. I have never seen any courtship behavior, nor any singing whatsoever

Also, unlike my other gouldians she usually keeps her tail fanned out like that... All the time. Is this a flaw/ defect of some sort?

It can't be a double factor with those parents only a single factor. A single factor male would have some grey to blue (silver) in the feathers. The double factor males get the really white backs. Hens are only single factor and will show white....So it is safe to say she is a hen.
She looks black headed... but maybe she hasn't gotten the head color yet. She is very pretty

Candace, yeah, I thought she was (a hen). I have just never seen that before. Cool. Thanks for the insight. I knew someone could give me assurance one way or another on this site.
Dolly, thanks. I do love her. She's super calm too. All of holding I did when she was little and the pics I always take. She puts up with alot
