RCCB nesting - how long can they go on?

Post by finchandlovebird » Sat Mar 17, 2012 9:29 am

9/15 dud egg in nest.
11/14 2 babies tossed.
11/26 3rd baby tossed.
1/23 baby tossed.
I believe this is 3 clutches and THEY ARE STILL SITTING IN THE NEST! It's the end of March! How long can they go on like this. Very faithful in the nest; one in, one out at all times. I have the nest pretty well privatized for them so I can't see into it.

They may be sitting on clutch #4. If you want to give them a chance to keep the next hatchlings alive, give them lots of live food throughout the day, not all at once in the am. Give them 3-4 separate dishes or put food on a paper plate to make it look like there's an abundance of food, so they don't feel they should toss and start over, which is what is seems they're doing. Good Luck with this round.
