I'm a first-time finch owner. I have two, one is definitely a traditional Zebra Finch, but the other I can't find one that it looks like online to identify what kind of finch it is.

I think it is also a Zebra Finch, but it is a mostly solid cream color. The folks at the store where I got them said it was a "society finch", but the discrete color differences are the same pattern as the Zebra:
It's feathers under the wing area are brown with white spots, and the tail has a faint "cream-on-cream" stripe pattern like the Zebra. It has a peach beak and peach legs. It also has the same facial patterns as the Zebra, it's just the colors are all shades of cream. I just can't find a photo of a finch that looks like mine, so that's why I wonder what kind it is.

I can only say that you do have a zebra finch and not a society finch. I'm also guessing that it is a female because it looks like the beak is more orange but I could be very wrong here. It is a beutiful bird and I wish I could find one like that to add.

I responded to your introduction, and didn't think I could help. However, the picture you provided does tell me that you do not have a society finch. The beak is the wrong color, shape, and the body doen't have the same profile as a society.

I'd say you have a zebra.

Yes, it sure looks to be a zebra finch. It also appears to have a faint cheek patch which would indicate a male. A very pretty bird indeed, congratulations.

I think its a male too, if im right only males have the browning on the sides with the little white spots, its a zebra

I would say that is a florida fancy mutation of the zebra. :]

Gonna have to agree with you there. Tough to say for certain because of the lighting but I'd guess Single factor Florida Fancy or a Fawn male. Does he look like this guy?

I'm leaning more towards the SF FF cause of the faint lacing in his wings in the second picture along with the lack of a prominent breast bar.

Is this a young bird? The beak may darken as it ages... looks young to me. Definatly a Zebra.
Females can have faint cheek patches in some mutations but I believe this is definatly a male due to the chestnut flanking of the wings...females never have this.
Could turn out to be a cream, phaoe, or combination. Could be pet quality of zebra. Sometime the color gets washed out and feathers loose with inbreeding.

you could always get it DNA tested to find the sex

The beak still looks very orange, i think is a young Florida Fancy Male who is still molting. Very beautiful one. BUT i do agree with the others. Its a 100% Zebra, not a societies. hehe.

You have 2 Male Zebra finches. Standard gray and a white cream mutation resulting from some ancestry of Florida fancy. But both are males since there is cheek patch coloration and chestnut flanks.
