I just recently received a Common waxbill (st.helena) for Christmas and purchased a partner for him, I know they were "Active" becuase of all the dancing a hiding in their nest. One morning I heard the Cock singing repetitively and I had found the Hen

dead on the floor of the cage. I was pretty hurt that Egg-binding could have been the case. I couldn't find another partner for "Neo" so instead I got a 3 ft flying pen and added a pair of Zebras. So for now they've (3) been bonding together and hopefully I could find a hen for "Neo"

I'm sorry about your little hen, what a shame

. Hopefully you'll be able to find another one for Neo, but in the meantime it's good he's getting along with the zebras.

I'm so sorry about your hen. Don't feel bad - the little waxbills get eggbound SO easily, and even if you're watching them like a hawk you still may not catch it in time.

I'm sorry to hear your loss. Do you plan to find "Neo" another mate in the future? Sound like he is happy still.

I'm awaiting a shipment of St.helena's to come in to this pet shop I go to, but they are taking quite awhile and I want Neo to have a mate now that I put him in a seperate cage, due to the fact that the male Zebra has been chasing him around for some "alone time" w/ his hen.
