It looked like a mini hamster....

Post by otto&lucy » Thu Feb 07, 2008 10:12 pm

I'm hoping someone can tell me what kind of bird I saw. It was in a flight cage at a nursing home with a dove and a few finches. It was about 2 inches long and very fluffy. The coloring was mainly white with a few light brown patchy spots. I immediately thought of a hamster when I saw it, she was absolutely adorable. Could it have been a zebra finch? I know they're markings vary so I'm not sure. Hopefully someone can help me! :)

2 inches long? Hmm..sounds like a hummingbird. Not really sure without a pic. Did the flight have a nest? It could have been a fledgling.

I'll be going back next Wednesday, I'll be sure to take my camera. I'm sure you all would get a kick out of the aviary so my camera will serve a dual purpose. It's a really nice set-up.

:)

Awesome, I look forward to seeing the photos,

Some of those set ups are so beautiful they look like household furniture pieces.
