Hi all...

I'm new to finches, is there a real color difference to lavendar and plum finches? I saw a beatuful lavendar or lilac shaded finch with yellow cheecks on one of the site I search but the picture didn't advise which they were calling it. Also it seems not may breeders or sites show them, can anyone tell me how rare they may be and what a good price to purchase them might be? One more question, if anyone does know the difference can you attach pictures and how I might be able to tell hen from cock. Thanks!

Sandy -

Lavenders and plum finches are two different species. What is the site you found? Maybe somebody here can identify it from the pic.

ken...

Thanks for the links. Neither had the one I found; I'm still looking for the site I found the other one at. The one I saw was all light purple (lavendar) colored with just yellow cheeks. When and if I can find that site again....I'll post it.
