Star Finch Singing Question

Post by saragoescrazy » Sat Oct 07, 2006 1:37 pm

So yeah I have a weird question. I currently own 6 star finches (1 yellow male and 2 yellow females; 2 red males and 1 red female). Just to give you a bit of background information I got one yellow male and one red male and they told me the yellow was a female. I later found out a male... but yeah... I finally found two females for the males and bought those and the other day we bought two reds... a pair... well everything is normal, they're eating and drinking... and I notice my male yellow and my first male red had a very different song but the same peeping type noise... then these two reds (one male and one female) they make noises like they're sneezing... but they're opening their mouth like they're singing... it's strange... is this normal and they're just nervous, or is it just a unique "song" type of thing? Sometimes he makes the mouth movements but barely makes any noise at all... sometimes I cannot even hear anything...

Is that normal?

That doesn't sound normal -- at least none of my star finches do any such thing.

I would be suspicious of air sac mites or some other respiratory problem.
