baby orange breasts

Post by mickp » Fri May 02, 2008 3:39 am

until today I had managed to stay well away from the nest of one of my pairs of orange breasted waxbills.
it got the better of me today though and I just had to peek.
was certain that there were young in there from the amount of livefood the parents had been eating.
so I was very happy to find what looked like 3 or 4 little ones all covered in down staring back at me :D :D
got away from the nest real fast then (didnt want to though lol)
am going to wait at least 7 days before going back may even try to go longer if I can

My pair built a nest in the top of a silk tree. They didn't accept any nest box I gave them. I was so afraid it wasn't secure enough that I went and bought a canary nest to support it and put under the one they built.
I looked into their nest almost every day. (I am so bad) They successfully raised all three even with my interference.

Good luck and keep us posted!
