Maybe a Triple Black. Black chested, Black Cheek, Black Face. cindy would know. I just tagged her. Hopefully she'll see this and let you know.

My guess would be black cheek, black breast.

Usually the triple blacks have a tad bit more black. But it's certainly possible.

Mia is probably right. I was torn because it has a little more than typical black cheek black breast to me, thus my opinion, so it was between the two, but maybe not a full Triple Black.

Thanks to all. The owner said the parent birds were " just regular ", meaning I think normals, but he was not a breeder, just a guy that has some birds, and the subtleties of Zebra genetics were not familiar to him.

I am a new Zebra hobby breeder (clueless), and this is my first post on the forum. That said, I have a similar little boy chick as yours except he is bright white underneath with teardrops and the black cheek. Your second pic looks like my boys mom (guessing is grey/black cheek Isabelle, a young cock?) I think! Please excuse my ignorance if all Isabelles have grey cheeks LOL). The parent cock of your male may have just looked normal to an uncaring eye. The dad to my dark boy looks to be slightly muted fawnish/silver with lighter brownish rust cheek patches.

Probably a Black Cheek Black Face. 3B's usually have more black in the chest area (no barring). But again it could be a not so good 3B specimen.

What do the barbels look like on the end of the flight feathers? Are they rough or not smooth in appearance? Does the bird seem to have difficulty in any length flights, so more then 3 feet? If so, there is likely some Eumo genes in the birds. I have a cock bird that looks identical to yours and his mother was a Eumo hen so I know for sure there is some Eumo gene in him. Any chance you can post pics of the parents?

I never saw the parents. He is normal feathered. From the first clutch out of the BC hen there are two that are BC/BF, one BC and two lighter birds still indeterminate. Second clutch in the nest, three are very dark all over, two are lighter. Here is a baby from the first, I had started a new thread with him.
