trying something new

Post by kyle » Mon Dec 22, 2014 3:56 am

Hello a forum something new to me, but its so interesting to see how others enjoy their birds as much as i do. I recently purchased a pair of Goulding's from a local breeder here in B.C. Canada. They are spectacular! They are in a 2 '×2' cage for now as I am waiting on delivery of their prevue F030 flight cage. I would love to know if anyone has this flight cage and what they think. :)

A warm welcome fellow Canadian from neighboring Alberta.

Congratulations on your new Gouldians. They are lovely birds, both in looks and in personality. Quiet, sweet natured, and stunningly beautiful. I am sure you will enjoy them.

Regarding the f30: My favorite flight cage ever. If you have the space for it, it is a wonderful flight. You can access it from all four sides for cleaning, feeding, etc. It is spacious, offering your birds lots of flying room, and you can wheel it around from room to room if you wish, or move it from side to side for cleaning, sweeping and so on. I have one that sits in my kitchen bay window, and I would love love to get another one, when they go on sale.

You can also use silk or plastic ($ store) greenery, to decorate, and to create little secluded spots for your couple, which they trully will appreciate. They also like to fuss around with fake vines and such, arrange them and rearrange them just for fun. Another thing they will enjoy is a swing.

I hope you will enjoy your new feathered kids and the new flight when it arrives (I know your Goulds will love it)

Good luck and best wishes. If you have any questions, or concerns , or just wish to share, please feel free. Also, we would love to see pictures of your babies, so feel free to post some and share with us.

Welcome to the forum, Kyle! There's lots of good reading at www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on housing, diet, and especially the Lady Gouldian finch! If you put your general location in your profile, it makes it easier when answering locale-specific questions later on.

I have two of the F030 cages, and I love them! They are great for space for the birds to move around, easy to maintain and clean. If you want a light on the cage, you can easily ziptie a light on the roof. When you get the cage, you have to assemble it, and you have the choice of putting both large door panels on the front, or one on the front and one on the back. I have both of mine on the front, one top and one bottom.

Thanks for the warm welcome. After reading a bit more I am glad to see so many Canadians! I received my prevue F030 cage on time as promised. It came in great condition, and took about an hour to set up. Love it so far! Thanks for the tips I'll be getting some silk plants to make it a little cozy. I hadn't thaught of switching one of the door panels to the back, love the idea but need all the access to the front I can get. I did add a ott light to make up for the lack of sunshine here in Vancouver. I also ordered forever nest boxes from lady gouldian Canada. Has anyone ever used them? My gouldians are a year old and I think they would be interested in nesting. Him for sure, she seems to show most of the signs although when he sings to her she doesn't necessarily stay and listen. I'm sending along pics off them in their new cage.

Great flight cage. May I ask where you ordered it from and the price?
