Straw-Tailed Whydahs in Central FL?

Hi,
New to the forum. I bought a "pair" of straw tails last spring, well during the summer, the female molted out to be a very handsome male...
Since then, I have been looking for 2 females at all the shows and shops but have not found any.
Does anyone know of a breeder in central Florida???
Or anywhere in the US that ships?
Cheers,
Todd

HI Todd, welcome to the forum.
Straw-tailed whydahs... that's a new one for me. Heard of the pin-tail whydahs though. They are beautiful birds. Where did you purchase your males? Perhaps they can direct you to a couple lonely hens??

Neat looking birds! I don't know about Florida, but the following are a couple of breeders (of these whydahs) from around the country - maybe one of them will have a contact in Florida.
ksfinchman@yahoo.com
www.aspenleafaviaries.com
www.emeraldisleaviary.com
I've done business with Emerald Isle Aviary and had a really good experience.
Good Luck!

Hi cooltom28,
I thought the Queen Whydah was the shaft-tailed whydah??
Thanks for the links!
I've already been in contact with one of them, they had none for sale....
Will check with the others.
Cheers,
Todd
