Hello I just had to put it out there about what a great little finches societies are! I was always wanting to get Gouldians and finally the time was right. I finally had a successful clutch. I didn't want to use fosters but my hen would not stay in the nest box at night. I know she is only a 1 1/2 old and is just learning but after I lost the eggs for a second time I had to try to save the last clutch of the year.

I decided to get a pair of societies just in case. What great little personalty they have! After the societies arrived it made the gouldians look stuck up .. Ha. I cater to these finches the best foods luke warm baths all that I think they may enjoy, and the goulds turn there beaks up in the air. The Society's on the other hand take advantage of everything! I have found them to be a pleasure I'd have to say it makes it rewarding taking care of them. No down side to these finches a little plesant twittering now and then but overall quiet.

In the end my gouldian hen left the nest at night. I took the eggs out and put dummy eggs in so as not to upset them. the societies took to the eggs immediately. All in all I have two goulduan and two society chicks. Of course I hadn't intended to breed the societies but now that I discovered there charm two more is s good thing!

Yes, Socies are real sweethearts.
They are peaceful, sweet natured, laid back, and friendly with everyone. Plus, they will usually take over any eggs that need incubating, and any babies that need feeding and raising.

Also, there is nothing quite as cute as a males Society's poofy dance and song routine. :-D

Enjoy!!!
