By tomorrow I will finally have some Owl black rump finches. Then next week I have more coming. These are coming from two different breeders, so with time I hope to have a large family. Not sure if these are black or white rump yet. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

That's great news! All I have gotten so far with my babies are males. What I love about the forum is that I am learning all the time--I didn't even realize there were two different types of Owls! I just finished looking at the FIC, and sure enough, it is mentioned there. I took a quick look at mine, but will have to do some more comparing to be sure. I think mine have black rumps, but my second pair, which I just got last month, seem to have more white on their rumps. (I need to get a life--sitting around staring at the backsides of birds!)

Did you find them locally, or are you having some shipped to you? You will enjoy them so much.

Congrats on your owls. They are the cutest little birds to me.

The black rumped are the most common and the white rumped are more rare. I have not seen any white rumped at the bird marts.

No, these that I'm getting tomorrow are from Gatesville Tx. and the others well be from Prosper Tx. And I'm meeting the folks to pick up the birds.

I am sure you will love your Owls like I do! They are so fun to watch. Whenever I get done vacuuming and the motor winds down my Owls go crazy calling to it....because it sounds like an Owl...lol!

I have three young White rumps now. Tried to take pictures, I think it would be a lot easier to take pictures of these humming birds out my window. About the time I get a good focus on one it has moved. Now for my question, is it normal for them to throw seeds and eat off the floor. And eat for a few seconds and sleep for a few, busy busy but SO cute. Any info on these would be greatly appreciated.
