Red-Billed Firefinch Compatibility

Hi All - for those of you who have Red-Billed Firefinches, how do they do in mixed company? Specifically, I am considering whether a pair would mix well with my Society family (2 M/F pairs). If so, if I were to get a M/F Firefinch pair, would withholding a nest sufficiently discourage them from breeding?

Thanks!

My RB Fire finches get along with just about everyone, they are quite passive. I have several pairs now that do not have nests or nesting material, and they have not exhibited any breeding behavior, but they also are not young birds.

My two Red Billed Fire boys, are housed with a pair of Orange Cheeks, and two Red Cheek Cordon Bleu females.
They are brothers and quite young, and they don't bother anyone.
They do however want to mate badly. They dance and display for each other all the time, poor little guys, and at present I can't locate any brides for them :-(.

I have one male fire finch who is several years old and never caused a problem until this winter. He claimed a nest for himself, pairedup with my big canary guy and started defending 'his' half of my 16 foot aviary. Eventually I had to remove his nest and finally he's peaceful again. Just shows that each bird is different and sometimes the dynamics can change even after several years.
