My NEW Gouldians!!!!

Post by lnlovesorange » Mon Apr 13, 2015 9:46 am

I FINALLY got my Gouldians at a bird fair this weekend!!! I got them yesterday, so they are still adjusting to life, however they have started singing a little, and seem to be doing ok. I got one "special" one...he only has one foot. I had to catch him to get him out of the little travel cage and into the big forever cage, and boy he didn't like being caught, he was biting me like crazy!!! So one foot or not he's a feisty one!!! debbie276 if you could look (i know the pics are the greatest) but are they in a molt? I thought i saw some pin feathers in the red of one of their faces, and their backs are a little ....muttled green/yellow I guess you'd say. Just wondering if you wouldn't mind giving my photos the expert once over. Thanks!!!
BTW LOVE their little song, it's so pretty, only problem is it's hard to hear over my 6 zebras beeping and meeping!!! and little boys trying to sing!!! lol

Thank you!! They are so much prettier in person than in any photo i've ever seen! It was amazing to see them in real life (first time, I've only ever seen them in photos) I saw a blue one (BH WC Blue Back?) And a yellow one with just a white face and breast, pretty much void of any color, but still pretty handsome!! They are lovely. I'm very very happy. I hope they will be too!!!

delray Thanks Brian!!! I bet you will, i KNOW you will and you'll be a good Gouldy Daddy!!! Don't get me wrong I LOVE my zebs, but I think cuz the Gouldy's are new... I'm wishing I got them A LONG time ago...ya know? I love them!! I just went home on work for lunch to check on everyone, and they are still pretty scared, they are up in a corner of the cage, and haven't really come out of that corner!!! I'm sure they'll get better (fingers crossed, they like me as much as I LOVE them) !!!

lnlovesorange I'm sure it will get better. Once they get used to their new place, they will want to get to know you more. :D :D

Thanks! I hope so. If I could get more birds right now, I would get 2 more societies, 2 owls and 2 gouldians. ;)

delray I LOVE Owls too!!! That's my next quest in the bird world, however, I'm at capacity right now. So my Owls will have to wait. My mom always jokes, that pretty soon I'll be bunking with her, because my birds are slowly pushing me out of my room!!! LOL Seems you and I have similar tastes in birds ( i love Socies too, they are so freakin' adorable!!) I wanted to say thanks to you also for your comment on my other post.... It really made me feel crappy, and you saying that really helped. So thanks!!! And I hope your right about the birds, I want them to explore the cage, its' so big, they have so many other places to check out!!! I have to remember they aren't Zebras...(ya know, my Zebs are NOSY and need to check out EVERYTHING) maybe Gouldian's just aren't as nosy as zebras!!! lol But anyway, thanks again delray

lnlovesorange. Glad it made you feel better. Forums are about helping eachother out. :D

Yeah, it does seem like we want the same birds. It's funny because I am very happy with Phineas and Ferb, but I always want more. I'm sure it's the same for everyone here.

THEY ARE GORGEOUS!
Ellen, congratulations!!!!

Such lovely little boys to brighten up the days. I really enjoy the Gouldian songs as well, it's almost like they're whispering and lisping at the same time.

I am very happy for you. Did you get four boys on purpose? Have you got names for them yet?

Give them a little while to settle in, and they will become curious about you. They will start getting closer to the bars and checking you out, and when you talk to them, they will turn their heads from side to side and listen. It's really cute.

Congratulations again, they are very beautiful.
