Mixed species compatibility

This is mostly for my own future reference as I don't currently have plans to get or breed any more birds. I currently have 6 zebras in a flight cage (2 pairs plus 2 weaned babies) and a pair of females in a hospital cage (one flew into a window, the other was generally down with damaged primaries so she can't fly very well).

I am wondering if shafttailed finches and owl finches can be housed with each other and/or with zebras so long as the cage is large enough?

I'm pretty sure the shafts would be ok. Though, the owls are very flighty and very quiet compared to Zebra finches. How large is csge?

The flight with 6 zebs in is 87 x 70 x 46cm, but I have a currently empty cage that is 71 x 60 x 38 cm. when the 2 females in the hospital cage are fully recovered they might go into the empty flight rather that the other flight as they both clash with one of the males in the flight.

Actually all three species can hybridize, especially the Owls and Zebras as they are closely related. So i would not house them together if any nesting options are available.

That being said I've had all three species cohabit together quite nicely. Owls are definitely the mildest mannered of the three species, followed by Shaft-tails, and then Zebras. In a large enough area they do quite fine though.

I've housed Zebras and Shaft Tails, without any problems.

Ive housed all three together without and problems or hybridizing but they are all in well bonded pairs already before all introduced to each other and I had them in a very large aviary where they had enough space to keep from each other. It depends on each bird since they all have their own personalities. If you did keep them together you would just have to keep an eye on them and see how they act.
