Re: Carduelis Lawrencei
Hi, we have Lawrence's Goldfinches here in Southern California out in the wild. Beautiful birds but pretty rare. A girlfriend of mine has lots of wildflowers in her garden and they will show up a few times a year looking for certain seeds.
Thank you for the videos of your birds.

We have a few wild pairs of these goldfinches in San Francisco. They are really beautiful. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to keep these birds in captivity.

What kind of seed do you feed your siskins?
Do they eat eggfood, carrots or greens?

You see, after trying several commercial brands, although they were good, my birds do not always ate all the seeds, much is wasted.
Finally I decided to give them the seeds they ate, and gave them nutrients without being harmful to their livers.
Of course, I had to go slowly adapting.
Canadian Alpiste 80%.
15% White Knob.
5 & Niger.
On the other hand, yes, I give eggless pasta but I prefer to avoid to avoid liver problems.
But sometimes I use a paste if fitted and has also Provioticos. The Dutch brand is called White Molen. (I always add my ingredients, spirulina, dried nettle, 7-grain porridge with honey, calcium, ground almonds and grated coconut)
Concerning the vegetables, spinach utilizao almost always have good amount of vitamine E, and other nutrients. Broccoli also use cucumber.
By the way, three basic seed I put them in small feeders are:
Camelina sativa
Salvia hispanica
Oenothera
If you have any doubt, ask.
greetings.

Thank you for the new video.
So do you make your own seed mix, by buying different types of seeds and mixing together?
I buy a special finch mix at the Pet Shop (because it contains many tiny little seeds for my Waxbills) . Then I mix it with good quality outdoor finch seed mix, add extra Canary seed, red millet, and oats. Whatever they don't eat, I give to the outdoor beggers
(Sparrows, Pigeons, Chickadees, Magpies, Squirrels, Mice.......) They all think, that my yard, is the neighborhood restaurant .
I also feed wild grass seeds that I collect for all my babies, and lots of vegetables and fruits, along with hard boiled eggs, mixed with spray millet and ground mealworms.
Best wishes from Canada.

The best thing is to make you mix , because the birds do not eat all the seeds and tend to eat more fat seeds .
I use a large proportion of Canadian flaxseed oil and to a lesser extent, white goatee and Niger . Also I use Panizo branches .
The vegetables I put them is: Broccoli, Cucumber and especially spinach .
The thing to remember is that fat seeds can produce liver problems leading to illness .
A greeting.
