Hi,
if it's Orange-breasted Waxbills they are very passive. Cute little birds, not much of a song - the male has high pitch trills and both give high pitch chirps.
I don't know how much they go for in Fl. sorry.

I have a pair and they are great little birds. I think the price is good.
The only thing is that they are very small and fit through some bars so you will have to make sure that your cage doesn't have large spacing.
They are not agressive. When mine had eggs I would see them run other birds off, but nothing serious. I think you should get them!

I checked out your pics in the gallery, and you definitely have a male/female pair. The dead giveaway on the male, besides being more colorful, is that the males have a red stripe like an eyebrow, and the hens do not. That is how I sexed my juvie Goldbreasts.
I adore these little birds. I offered mine mealworms when I first got them, but they didn't go for them, even when they had babies to feed, which is great with me!

It is so strange how some will eat things for some and not others. Mine will not eat cucumber even though I offer it almost every day to the others. But they love mealworms. I think they only bite off the head though.

The only thing I seen them eat so far is seed, but I try all kinds of things will try cucumber.I gave them mealworms but they never ate. They sure fly fast and look like they can hover,I like watching them very neat bird. Not in hurry to have babys but if they do they sure must be small, checked out the links that mickp posted it said they breed fairly easy.

I don't have much time to sort through the gallery so can you post a link to the pics, I would love to see them.
Also, how big are they? I sometimes have trouble estimating the size of some birds in pics if there is nothing to compare them to.
(Riff & Raff these days are too big to hold in one hand, must be the biggest Javas ever I think)

Geordie - if you go to the gallery, just above the picture groupings is an index in blue. The last one on the right is a search button. Then you can put in the author's name, check all the boxes, and it will pull up only the postings by that person. It is the only way I can use the gallery, as otherwise the photos are just all scrambled together.
Also, the Goldbreast is about the smallest finch in captivity. According to the NFSS, hens often measure less than 3"!
