New Mutations of Shaft tails in the States

Recently three breeders had the opportunity to bring two European shaft tail mutations into the states, I was lucky enough to be one of them. The mutations are Gray and Opal (silver). From the information we can find Gray and Opal are recessive, Fawn which is sex linked plays a part in creating Opal (as it does in javas). Part of the group of shaft tails sent contained Fawns/opal gray.

They are stunning in person and we are looking forward to learning more about these mutations as we work and breed them.

*the last two pictures, the bird to the far right is a fawn split to both gray and opal.

Congratulations cindy! They are beautiful. I saw them on Facebook several days ago. Didn't Chase Austin and Scott Golden receive the rest of the shipment?

Cindy, they are absolutely gorgeous!

Good luck to you and the other two breeders. I really hope that all three of you have success with these mutations. I have only seen the fawn mutation here in SA but I really like the look of the Opal. The contrast between the body and bib color is stunning!

Opal hen and gray male....they have been busy building a nest.

The other pairs also are building, sitting in nests.
