Any ideas on gender? Purple Grenadier finch

Anyone have any ideas if baby Purple Gren is a male or female?

No eye rings yet. Chest looks a little purplish to me.....

He/she gets a grooming with a soft toothbrush every day. She adores that.

Five weeks old. And just all of a sudden is pretty much weaned. Offered mealworms on my palm yesterday, and now she scarfs them! Also eating millet spray, chitted seed, greens. Ignoring egg food.
Kind of sad, to not be greeting with the "FEED ME FEED ME!" chatter when I walk into the room.
Still very tame. Loves to ride around on the highest head. She will fly up to the top of cabinets, but come down with a little bit of coaxing.

Sally would probably be the most help, but it looks like it's a little female to me.

Have you started socializing Skye with other Purple Grens yet? I know Sally had some trouble with A Boy Named Sue imprinting on her more than his species. When she paired him up with a hen, the hen killed him.

Shame you don't still have that really old female. She might have been a good teacher for your handfeds. At least you've got another clutch a few weeks younger. Maybe once they are all weaned they can teach each other the ropes.
