It is quite easy to sex. The male's beak colour is a deeper colour and sooner or later he will court the hen. He will almost make a purring sound and turn his head into odd angle, almost like a question mark. It will sound like this; "Purr-purr-purr-puuuuur. If you look at the black breast pattern in the front, where it turn upward, the hen has a nice tidy rounded turn. In the cock the line of black feathers in the upturn look broken and not perfectly tidy like in the hen. The beak of the cock is also bigger, the head broader and his stance more upright.

I made a red circle on the cock bird in the photo. It is in that area that you must have a look at. The black bar on a hen has a neat rounded curve. In the cock it sometimes almost has a sharp corner.

The previous photo was actually of a red tail Diamond. They is easier to sex when mature, because the male's beak becomes coral red, sometimes an almost dark purple. Here is a picture of a yellow tail cock. Note that where the dark bar turns downward, it makes a sharp angle where in the hen there would be a rounded curve most of the time. Also look at the beak, it is nice orange colour. With the hen it would be lighter. Also with the hen the feathers at the breast are neater. The black bar makes more perfect line, ie not as many white feathers that overlap into the black and visa versus. If I use these methods to sex them, I am right most of the time.

MariusStegmann@Sally Thanks both of you
I checked out and the male has slight sharp angle breast pattern whereas female has both round and both calls are different so they must be a pair.
Please check out the pics

Let me know your comments on the same.

I can't really tell from those photo's, but where the 2 are sitting next to other, the cock bird looks to be the one closer to the camera. But if the one has a low call and the other a high cal,, they are definitely a pair.
