Surprsing gouldian behavior

I have a lot of young goudians in a large enclosure, and I recently observed something I didn't expect - an adolescent gouldian feeding a younger sibling from a newer clutch. Seriously... the adolescent is still in its green-gray juvenile plumage and there it was without a doubt - feesing a younger, begging sibling.

Instinct is a hell of a thing, eh?

I've seen that many times in my aviaries. It's great to see the young taking care of the young, good learning tool for adulthood too. :)

Isn't it incredible?

I've seen this a couple times as well and it's just so precious to watch!

As Sally mentioned, it's good training for parenthood too!

I've seen it with Societies and Zebras, but so far not with Gouldians.

Has the youngster being fed completely weaned?
