Female Chestnut Brested Mannikin

Post by cindy » Sat Oct 17, 2015 9:50 am

Female Chestnut Breasted Mannikin, she choose this nest over open faced wooden nest boxes that were hidden in silks. Not a fan of wicker baskets, this one is on the back wall of the flight, center of the cage and out in the open. She remains in the nest with her eggs even as I feed and water.

Sounds like a good Mama bird.
By the look she's giving the camera, I wouldn't stick my hand in there :-).

How sweet!
A pair of Gouldians, Red Cheeked CB's, Orange Cheeked Waxbills, Javas, and Cutthroats. And, two canaries. And, 3 kids, a dog and a patient, patient husband.
