I am not a bird/finch expert... I have a very tiny finch, he is light gray with a little red on his tail and an orange/red beak. I had 2 but one somehow got injured inside the cage and was bleeding and died a few moments after I found him. I was worried the remaining finch was lonely, so I put 2 little mirrors in the cage and he sits next to the mirror as if he thinks it's another finch... Well, I still felt he might be lonely, so I went to Petsmart to buy another finch. They did not have the same finches of his species. The finches they have are a little bigger than him in size. I went ahead and bought one, a "society finch" it's caramel and white colored. I am guessing both finches are males by their bright coloring. I put the new one in the cage, they are not aggressive towards each other, but they do not sit close together like the tiny finch used to do with the other finh who died; they sit apart from each other but otherwise seem ok together. Of course, they have only been together about 12 hours now, so may be they'll get to be friendlier after some more time has passed...
My tiny finch has a chirping, singing kind of song. The new finch has a song that kind of sounds like crickets chirping; so their songs are very different. I don't want either finch to be lonely; do you think they can be happy together and not be lonely? Thanks to anyone who responds!

Found out what kind of finch it is...
I found out my first finch, (the tiny one) is a Orange Cheek Wax Bill Finch. He has orange cheeks and a red beak and a gray body. The larger finch is a Society finch. Thanks for your help.

They are both peaceful birds and will get along. I think they will be company for each other. Of course it is always better for them to be with their own species and they may miss that for a while. But will adjust.
