Congrats, that is a very special Valentine Day's gift! Are you breeding in cages/flights or an aviary? Did you feed any live food? Inquiring minds want to know!

And we love photos!
A belated welcome to the forum! There's lots of good reading at
www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on finch care.

We have a decorative aviary built into our living room wall and extends into the "home office" It's a little over 4 ft. long, about 2 ft. deep and 4 ft high. The front is glass. The sides are made from an old cage and the back is Peg board that is hinged to allow full access. Daily feeding is done from the side. It is lit with an old 6 bulb fluorescent ceiling fixture with 1 black light, 1 aquarium light, 2 day light LED's and 2 full spectrum's.
Current inhabitants are a pair of Diamond Doves and their 1 recently fledged offspring. A pair of fire finches (that are helping feed the baby strawberries) and the proud parent strawberries. They are all offered a standard finch mix, spray millet, assorted greens, eggs, protein blend, live meal worms, grit, charcoal, oyster shell, cuttlebone, and vitamins (added to water).
We have pictures on our phones and when I am able to figure out how to transfer them to the PC, I will post them.

Congratulations!
Baby Berries, are adorable.
How on earth did the African Fires get into the nest to feed the Berry Babies? It's amazing that your Berry parents are allowing them access.
Looking forward to pictures (you can post pictures from your phone too).

I finally figured it out, I hope. If I did this right there should be some pics of the newbys and a pic of the aviary

Wow, I've never seen an aviary built into a wall like that before! Great idea. Those babies are absolutely adorable, they look very healthy!

Thank you all.
We also just had 2 new diamond doves hatch. Saw their little heads yesterday. Gonna have to thin things out soon. Gonna get crowded.
We will most likely move the youngsters to a temporary cage and hold them all there until the local bird fair and auction in May. A local retailer, "Sugarcreek Bird Farm", hosts a fair and auction in the spring and fall. Pretty cool event. Mostly larger species though.

Tom, let me know if you do plan on selling the strawberries and your price. I am going to Cambridge, OH on March 5-6, and could swing by on my way back.

PS - Love what you've done for an aviary. Please let me know the info about the bird fair and auction. May be worth a weekend trip.
