Some of you will know my about my recent Gouldian rescue and the small flock I am restoring back to health. Some of you have also helped me identify boys and girls out of the group. Originally I bought home 2 red heads which I thought was one of each, 1 boy and 1 girl but I was corrected that they were in fact 2 girls.
Today however I watched one of them start to act out the courtship movements to the other. The head was bowed, vibrating gently with gentle chirping noises. The recipient was standing still in front with her tail bent in the direction of the other one. So......could it be 1 boy and 1 girl after all?
The one who was making these exciting movements is the one I describe as being bossy in the group as its the healthiest of them all. Here's a photo for confirmation...

I have read that girls can mimic song and movements that males do to stimulate them but I would expect them to mimic this to another male, not another girl. Or don't they realise?
What do you think?
