Red-throated vs Red-headed Parrot Finches

Okie Dokie...
So here's my educational rant for the day. Red-throated and Red-headed Parrot Finches are not the same bird and the names should not be used interchangeably...
Red-throated Parrot Finches - Erythrura psittacea
Hail from New Caledonia and are available in the Normal variety (Red and Green) as well as the Seagreen variety. Pied birds can vary in the degree of 'piedness' and are available in both colors.
Pictures can be seen here compliments of a scientific name being entered into Google:

Red-headed Parrot Finches - Erythrura cyaneovirens
These lovely and very rare birds hail from the Samoan Islands like Dwayne Johnson (The Rock - actor). To my knowledge there are no mutations available for these birds. At least not in the US. They are also extremely rare. Like extremely.
Pictures of these beauties can be seen here:

It is important for us as hobbyists, fanciers, and aviculturists to know what species we have. I don't expect people to spout of Latin names in place of their common ones but issues arise when sellers misrepresent their birds by calling them something incorrect. Then buyers do it and the misrepresentation continues. There have even been issues in regards to the NFSS Census each year because breeders and finch keepers do not enter the correct species when discussing this species, thus skewing the numbers to show a much higher population of the rare Red-headed Parrot Finch in North American aviculture.
So please educate yourself and those individuals who purchase birds from you. I apologize for interrupting everyone's Finch Forum experience and now return you to your regularly scheduled program.
