Peales Parrot Finches

Post by josh1810 » Wed Apr 13, 2016 1:14 pm

Is anyone on here working with the Peales Parrot finches???

Currently breeding, trying to breed ???

Im looking for a few extra males to get a colony started.

This is a species that it seems is going to be lost here in U.S without people trying to work with them. Alsi with importing being so strict theses days the blood lines are goung to be depleted.

Any info, or contacts would be awesome. Im trying to get people interested in this species to make them more abundant throughout.

Thanks everyone

I like both the Peale's and the Forbe's.
We'll see this Summer, if we get some coming in, when we have our Feather Fest this Summer.

josh1810 Have you checked with Scott Golden? He is in Oregon, and has been working with various Parrot species.

There are 46 Peales listed in the 2015 census in Region 4, which is pretty much the western half of the U.S. except for CA, OR, WA, HI, AK. However, there is no breeder information, which is optional, so I can't tell you who might have them.

I hope you are able to find stock and keep them going.

Josh, from the ones you've got, could you tell me about the sounds they make? This guide needs info about Peales vocalisations: http://www.finchstuff.com/callssongs

I went to a bird mart this past weekend and was able to get a pair of peales! They're pretty young, so I'm not sure if they're ready to start breeding, but I'm getting everything set up for them this weekend.

Slwatson

Were there more of these Peales at the mart also?

Have patience with them and maybe you can get them to breed.

Haider,
I have 3 pairs. One pair is producing chicks for me. I got them from Scott Golden, Rich and also from a member here.
