Can someone tell me a little about the Owl Finch? I saw them on Finch Farm and they are so cute. Would they get along with Silverbills? Are they very active? How loud are they compared to other types of finches?

Thank you so much! :D

I've had Owl finches before, and they are very active, inquisitive little birds. They are related to Zebra finches, so to me they have a similar sound, just not as loud as Zebras. I love the look of them. No experience with Silverbills, so I can't say on the compatibility.

Susan39 My aunt had owl finches a few years ago.. They built amazing nests!! Very inquisitive, great to look at. Awesome species to choose from. They are more quiet and flighty, so keep that in mind. Other than that, good choice. Can't wait to here what you decide.

The owls are 1 of my favourites, a very easy going inquisitive species with plenty of character, they can be difficult to get breeding successfully but once they start there's no stopping them under suitable conditions, they should get along fine with other passive species such as silverbills.

Smurf Wow, Padraic, nice collection of juveniles! Looks like you have some fawns in there.

Sally, yes the're some fawns, i can't get over how productive the owls are once they get going, i've bred 50 society chicks and 48+ owl chicks ( a few owl eggs might still hatch) so far this year from 4 pairs of each, they'll be starting 4th and final clutches soon after which the parrot finches and some fresh societies will be paired up.
