I bought this pair today, should have bought second also as they had two pairs, I've never seen these for sale anywhere
Male is Black and glows blue in sun light / female is biege / brown. I was told they were most likely from african and are about same size as Blue Caps etc., I attempted to search the net, but could not find. I will take photos

I'm not sure but the birds sound beautiful. Once you post a picture i'm sure someone will be able to identify them.

Sounds like jacarini, or blue-black grassquits from South America. I have a pair. They're shy, and very quiet. She lays spotted eggs but so far won't sit - I don't think they have enough privacy.

Sounds like the Senegal Combassou...This is the cock bird...
By the way in many parts of the world birds are held like this...I don't recommend it...it shows no respect for the bird.

That's a beautiful bird Paul! But I don't think that's a comfortable position for the bird either.

Here's a photo of them, over the last 24 hours I've herd thier song( very nice) for such a little bird. I need breeding information, nest preferance ( basket? , do they like meal worms, do I need to keeep them under temp. control or can they saty out doors? as much informations as possible

Yes, It's a pair of Combassu (Hypochera chalybeata).
For breeding them you should have one or two pairs of African Firefinches. Infact, as like the other "ploceidi (in italian)" they use to lay their eggs in other birds nest. Their chicks are very similar to Lagonosticta chicks, cause they use to parasite them in nature too.

Some of the combassou finch have made nest but not good ones. You can get the hen to lay and use either fire finches or another pair to foster the babies.

As far as the price it is reasonable, good! A breeder at the show this summer wanted $45.00 a bird.

I've seen them for $80—so yes, it was a good deal! They look in top shape. If they weren't aggressive I would have a pair. As for breeding they are parasitic to senegal firefinches, though like someone said, they have been reported to build very poor nests. I wouldn't count on it though... Good luck with them!

P.S. I would LOVE to hear their song, I have never heard it before. If you found the time to record it for us one day it would mean the world to me.
