I have been offered a couple of male cinnamon star finches at $30 each.
have never heard of this mutation before and am wondering if anyone has seen them and what they think. the pic is of a cinnamon hen

Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

The only difference to me is that the body looks a little lighter than the standards. I would go for them, at $30 you can't lose!
I don't have any finches right now but I used to, I'll try to provide my knowledge around the forum

I believe the cinnamon is the same as isabel, a mutation of the Star finch that is lighter in color. I had an isabel hen, and one of her daughters is isabel. It must be recessive, as most of that hens babies are normal.

Good idea, mick, you can get 6 Gouldians for the same price as these two, and the Stars are both males, so then you'd have to find mates for them, too!

We were recently were recently visiting a friend of our aviaries and got the opportunity to see some of his Cinnamon Stars. While I can appreciate them, and the work it takes to breed for them from scratch, they are not my cup of tea. I prefer my standard variety Star. I think I'd have gone for the Gouldians as well.
