Males, females, pairs? If the cage (or aviary) is big enough, they'll be ok. You mean inter-breed? Not sure they can.

Hi Athens
I have about 20 of each species in a mixed aviary and they have never interacted with each other at all except for maybe territorial behavior around an active nest. The size of your space is a factor but I wouldn't be to concerned about it unless you actually see some courtship or mating going on.

Favorite hobby is continuing to improve on a landscaped, weather protected, 500 sq ft mixed aviary with 23 fascinating species. 30 years in the making; currently have
19 different Finch species, 2 types of Doves, plus 23 Button Quail and 30 pair of clear Red Factor Canaries.

Shaft tails can be territorial over nest, perches and may be to much for gouldians. it all depends on the size of your enclosure. what are the measurements?

Size of cage is everything. Keep in mind, in nature the shaft tails compete with gouldians for nests and will take over if they can.
