Brown-headed Nuns/Munias
A few weeks ago I finally managed to get a few Brown-headed Nuns (Lonchura atricapilla brunneiceps) from South Sulawesi.
This is a quite distinct subspecies of the Black-headed Nun, and I had been longing for them for over 2 years!
Although all are said to have been caught in the same area, one has a decidedly blackish, darker head than the others and it may be a different subspecies from further north.
Just sharing pics as especially North American members rarely seem to see such birds.

Beautiful! I was on the hunt for white headed nuns/munias, but they're very rare and expensive in my area.

I have read that on this forum before.
Kind of funny, as white-headed nuns are very common and cheap here.
By far the cheapest and easiest to get of all nuns!
I don't actually find these brown-headed nuns pretty, just interesting, and then mostly to those who have an interest in the various munia species.

I think the white headed are the prettiest, so of course, those would be the hardest for me to find
I could have gotten a pair at one time for $1000!!

Funny how tastes can differ, I find White-headed the dullest Nuns.
I am amazed at that crazy price over there, here you could buy hundreds for under $1 per pair.
I think the prettiest nuns must be Tricolors that actually seem relatively easy to get in the US but I can only dream about them here.
Of those I do have, I find the White-capped/Black-throated, the Hooded and the Sumatran sinensis subspecies of Black-headed the prettiest.
Black-headed:
White-capped:
And then 2 of my rarer Nuns...
Grey-crowned:
Five-colored:

PS: The grey-crowned ones are my favorites out of the ones you just posted.

Here are a couple oif white-headed nuns, taken on the market just 2 hours ago, for you!
@GouldianGuy
Guilty as charged... but I am also trying to popularize this somewhat obscure group of finches. Though at the price mentioned by slwatson earlier, I doubt many peopke will get them.
@isobea
You are welcome, especially if you can tuck some Tricolor Nuns in those pockeys on the way here!
I also realized the Grey-crowned look best of the photos, but in real life their colors tend to look less bright.
@Jen
Thanks!

Lovely birds my friend.
I have to say that the reddish browns with the black head and silver beak, would probably be my favorites.
