Grey singer

Post by isobea » Sun Oct 23, 2016 4:34 pm

Hi everyone,
I had been wanting a male grey singer for several months and just picked up one from a friend of mine who had an extra male. Cute as can be, not shy at all and started singing with the first 15 minutes! He has a beautiful clear voice, just what I wanted. Now I'll have to find a female for him - the story of my life lately (still haven't found a female blue cap cordon bleu).

Congratulations !

I have never come across the Gray Singers, and have not heared their songs. I know our Sally has some of them, and prefers their song to that of the Green Singers.

Good luck with finding a girl for him and one for Francois as well  .

lovezebs - This little grey guy is my first one. I've had green singers in the past and I have to say their song was louder and almost harsher (even though that's not quite the right word). This guy has a very 'clean' clear voice. In the spring I listened to several of them on Youtube and there are definitely differences from bird to bird. I got lucky with mine, he had a good teacher.

isobea, I have never seen a grey singer! My local bird shop has a cage-full of green singers that I have been drooling over. Glad you have a good singer!!

Shannylee - Hi Shannon, I believe mine came in through Birds Express originally. A friend of mine bought three pairs, something happened to one of the females and I was able to get the extra male. If you've checked them out on Google images, you know that most people would skip them for more colorful birds. But there is a really nice voice hidden in that little body.

I love my Gray Singers! I think their song is so lovely, though I will say it is nice and loud. I can hear my males singing while in my living room (but my house is quite small, so the bird room is just down the hall).

They are usually overlooked, as they are quite a plain little bird, but I think their song is much prettier than the more flashy Green Singers.

lovezebs - Hi Elana, he's doing fine. I'm still looking for a female for him (and also for my blue cap cordon bleu). I'm hoping Birds Express will have a nice big shipment coming in in November... I believe the gentleman I bought Francois and my gold breasts from gets a lot of his birds from Birds Express. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Fingers, toes, eyes, and legs...
Lets hope I don't have to hold this pose for too long, I might end up permanently in that condition :D

lovezebs - Elana, look at the bright side: you could make some extra money as a contortionist! :D
Iso

PS: Once you are in that pose, could you have somebody take a picture of you?

Once I'm in that pose, God help me, lol.

Bring on the cortisone shots, bring on the pain meds, knock me up the side of the head, to get those eyes to pop back into place... =))

I love his song so much. If I can't find a female soon, do you think I could have two males in the same aviary (16 feet long)? Are they territorial?

Hi Iso,

I believe they are territorial, like the Green Singers, but Sally would know better.

I found this on YouTube. The little dude can sing! He doesn't seem to be breathing though! :D I wonder if they can sing during an inhale was well as an exhale? Hmm...
