Hello everyone.

Occasionally I come across pictures of birds, and it doesn't state what they are, and I don't know what they are, and you know me with my curious mind, lol. I JUST GOTTA KNOW!!!

So I'll stick them on this thread, and hopefully someone will be able to tell me what they are. Please feel free to do the same, and hopefully we will get some answers coming in.

The only all-red wild finch-like bird I can quickly think of is a subspecies of the Red-headed weaver:

Well done Sheather!
I am not very familiar with neotropical birds and wouldn't have thought of tanagers.

Thank you both.

After looking at both guesses and their pictures and closest reletives, I've come to the conclusion, that it actually might be a Summer Tanager, seeing as the Scarlet Tanager, normally has black wings.

What do you think???

And it's actually a North American, not a tropical species!
Well, you don't have to go far to look for beauties - the Painted Bunting, in particular, must be one of the most spectacular "finches" anywhere!

The Painted Bunting, is a spectacular bird, and I have threatened on several occasions to hop across the border and sneak some back in certain articles of clothing that shall remain nameless.

lovezebs. Heh??? Oh, I think you misunderstood my post. I meant posting such a pretty bird is just wrong--because now I want a red bird. It's like dangling a triple chocolate cake in front of a chocoholic...just wrong. Hahahahah!!!
