I once had a Society male pair up with my female Saint Helena. Has anyone heard of a Strawberry paired with a Green Singer? If so, which one was male and which was female?

Very unlikely.
They belong to different families, meaning they are more distantly related to each other than a society and a helena.
Mind you, did the society-helena pair mate and brood together?
If not, they may just have been best friends, driven by the social drive of estrildid finches that hate lonelyness.

Thank you for your reply. My Society and Helena made their nests together and sat on unfertilised eggs together. They preened one another and slept together in the nest. They were the only finches in the cage. The Society was the male and the Helena was the female.

Sounds like they were truly paired up.

Note that usernames are the ones you see highest up, eg in my case w.l.

Society Finches, will buddy up with anyone. They are extremely social creatures, and need to have other birds with them, so I'm not surprised that they formed a close bond.

Regarding Strawberries and Green Singers.

They can co-exist together in a flight cage, but will not become a close cuddly pair, if that's what you mean, and they will most definitely not breed together.

I doubt that a Green Singer will pair up, even just as buddies, with a Strawberry finch. The Strawberry is a waxbill and the Green Singer is closer to a canary, so they have different behaviors.
