Eurasian Siskins

Post by BigBear0007 » Thu Feb 16, 2017 1:26 pm

Good morning everyone!

I haven't been here for a while, going through some personal issues and my birds were less of apriority.
I sold off all the birds I had, all the cages except one.

Well a couple weeks ago I was just going through some stuff on the I saw some pictures of the siskins and thought how nice it would be to get a pair. My grandfather and uncle would catch a male for keover the summer and we would let it go in the fall. This was back in Europe when I was a boy.

I thought to myself after all the bad things I'm going through it would be nice if the Good Lord Presumption on my part!

Well wouldn't you know it I found 2014 pair! Bred before, so they will be say to breed.
Got them the same day!!

So no matter what happens in my future and where I end up, probably leave Calgary?
I know God is watching over me and I thank him for small mercies!

They are so beautiful and very tame.

Very hard to get in Canada, and not legal to keep in the US.

Jerry

BigBear0007 - In the early '80s I had a pair in my indoor aviary in Germany. Loved them and not hard to breed. Yours should breed this spring since they are a proven pair. Can you get a large flight for them?
Good luck and enjoy!

Congratulations Jerry,

They are quite lovely really. Do they have a pretty song? I have never come across them before.

I hope life settles down for you. I know it has been a bad year, but hopefully things will start going in the right direction :) .

Enjoy your new birdies.

Once I get settled I will make them a nice big cage.
I should be out of here by the end of March and settled in a new place.
Maybe end of April or beginning of May I will set them up?

Thank you!

The song is nice but not super fantastic!
Go on YouTube and punch them in and you can hear them sing.

But, they mean a lot to me because of having them as a boy.

Well, I'm glad you got them then.

Do you know where you will be heading off to yet?
