Hello,
Looking for some help to sex one of my young Gouldian.
I am thinking female as their colour isn't overly bright and tip of the beak is black, but not sure if with maturity that will change. This is the first Gouldian baby I bred and kept to this age as I just started to breed them. I haven't seen any singing yet and hard to hear as I have 2 males that could be the ones singing when I hear it.
Please excuse the scruffyness of the feathers as they are just getting their adult feathers and going through the ugly look. Also tried to get the best pic I could, but as we all know it can be hard to do with these active lil buggers.

Hello fellow Albertan,

My guess is, that your birdie, is a girl, and a girl going into breeding mode.

How old is she? She doesn't look like a juvenile in her first adult molt. My guess would be somewhat older.

I would be offering lots of hard boiled eggs, and fresh greens, along with some birdie vitamins in the drinking water twice a week to help with this molt. Also a nice lukewarm bath everyday and a warm light to dry under.

Good luck :D

Hello,
Thank you for the reply.
She hatched November 2016 and yes she is a juvenile in her first adult molt.
I will attach a photo of what she looked like a few weeks ago.

Right now she is being fed a mixture of seed, sprouted seed, feather fast powder from morning bird, hard boiled eggs, parsley, blood words and veggies all mixed in a blender. They also get iodine drops in their water along with a mineral powder for growing.
The warm spray is a good idea and I will give it a go.
Thank you so much!
