All of these are my kids, and I have found them to be peaceful and sweet natured.

Of the list I like the goldbreasts, owls, javas, and cordon bleus, but I have heard the latter two species can be territorial around the nest. I really do like javas, but if their size and temperament is going to freak out my other birds, then it would be best that I wouldn't get them. My society finches have become more defensive after being around the gouldians, so they probably are better suited to being around pushy species than they were before.

I actually ended up getting two javas. At that point it was between them, goldbreasts, and common waxbills, but for some reason I had gotten it into my head that I wanted either four goldbreasts or no goldbreasts, plus there were no common waxbills. I went with the javas, seeing that they were in good condition and seemed to have good conformation. The white java is supposedly female, and the normal one is male (he's been singing throughout the day, even though he is moulting). They are in quarantine at the moment and probably will be for at least two more weeks.

I think the male is split for pied, as he has one white feather on his throat and a few around his eye rings. Is the white mutation a form of pied as in the dark eyed white society or is it something else like albinism or leucism?
