Hi All,

I decided to see how many different kinds of Parrot Finches I could find and list them here with pictures attached.

Does anyone know of any others???

Red Headed Parrot Finch (Samoan parrot finch)

Green Faced Parrot Finch ( Erythrura viridifacies)

Bamboo Parrot Finch (Erythrura hypethra)

Peales (Erythrura peaplii)

Pink billed Prrot Finch

lovezebs - Elana, do I get to pick a favorite? It's hard but for years I've wanted the all-elusive pin-tailed parrot finches. None in the US, I know, but I can dream, right? Forbes and Peales would be next in line. Just a few years ago a friend (right here in Carlsbad) was breeding the Peales but I wasn't into parrot finches at the time and the price tag was too steep for me which made it an easy decision.
Which one would you pick if availability and price were of no concern?

Elena, you've got things messed up.
Fiji and Peale's are the same species, and for Papuan you used a pic of a Philippine species.
There is a similar new species from Timor, and there is a Royal parrotfinch, too.

My faves, like Iso's, are our local pintails.
In fact I consider them the most beautiful of all fiinches! The slender body, pointy tail make the beautiful colors perfect. Yes, I prefer them to Gouldians too, which I find a bit too gaudy and plump.

Of course you can pick your favorite, Iso. I'll wrap them up and send them to you, lol.

I have to admit, that the Forbes (Tricolours) are my favorites (which is why I booked a pair with Jean for this Summer).

Wouldn't it be fabulous to have a lush planted aviary and several of those species flitting around in there

Not practical, I know...they would hybridize, but I can dream, sigh...

They are so beautiful.
